Ramsey Nijem vs. Erik Koch booked for UFC on FOX 16

The UFC’s first visit to the Windy City during the summer months has a new lightweight bout added to the bill.

Erik Koch (14-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) will meet Ramsey Nijem (9-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) at UFC on FOX 16 in Chicago. UFC officials announced the new fight booking today following an initial report from FOXSports.com.

UFC on FOX 16 takes place July 25 at United Center in Chicago. In the main event, bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw rematches Renan Barao in a title fight that was supposed to happen this week at UFC 186 before a Dillashaw injury forced the delay.

Nijem will be looking to get back on track after a TKO loss to Carlos Diego Ferreira this past August at UFC 177. Before that, he had back-to-back wins over Justin Edwards and Beneil Dariush to rebound from a two-fight skid of stoppage losses to Myles Jury and James Vick.

Koch fights just up the road from Chicago in Milwaukee. He’s badly in need of a win with just one victory since September 2011. After a four-fight winning streak, including his first two bouts in the UFC, Koch dropped consecutive fights to Ricardo Lamas and Dustin Poirier at featherweight. He returned to lightweight and stopped Rafaello Oliveira with an 84-second TKO at UFC 170. But in May of this past year, Daron Cruickshank took him out with a first-round head kick.
