Lewis vs Jordan, Jouban vs Ebersole slated for UFC Fight Night 68 Empty Lewis vs Jordan, Jouban vs Ebersole slated for UFC Fight Night 68

Post by El Jefe Tue Mar 03, 2015 5:01 pm

Another pair of Louisiana natives will give UFC Fight Night 68 some added hometown flavor, as New Orleans' Derrick Lewis and Lafayette's Alan Jouban look to capitalize on recent UFC 184 wins when they meet Shawn Jordan and Brian Ebersole in respective heavyweight and welterweight contests on June 6 in New Orleans, LA.

The UFC confirmed the bouts on Tuesday following an initial report from The Times-Picayune.

Lewis (12-3, 1 NC) and Jouban (11-3) both picked up brutal TKO wins this past Saturday at UFC 184. Lewis battered Ruan Potts with heavy shots for nearly eight minutes before finally earning a merciful second-round stoppage, while Jouban needed just two minutes to put Richard Walsh out on his feet with a crushing elbow strike.

Lewis, 30, improved to 3-1 in the UFC with the win. All four of his contests have ended by KO/TKO, as he picked up back-to-back knockouts over Jack May and Guto Inocente last year before losing in 41 seconds to Matt Mitrione.

He'll now face Jordan (17-6), a former collegiate fullback for Louisiana State University who played on the school's 2007 National Championship team. Jordan, 30, is 5-3 in the UFC, and recently rebounded from a pair of losses to smash through Jack May and Jared Cannonier.

Farther down the scale, Jouban, 32, has shown flashes in scoring two violent knockout wins over Walsh and Seth Baczynski, sandwiched between a decision loss to Warlley Alves.

The part-time model asked to fight on UFC Fight Night 68 after defeating Walsh, and now he'll get his wish against Ebersole (51-16-1, 1 NC), an ultra-experienced 34-year-old who snapped a two-fight losing streak with a somewhat listless split decision decision win against John Howard last September.

UFC Fight Night 68 takes place at New Orleans' Smoothie King Center and airs live on FOX Sports 1. Former title challenger Daniel Cormier fights Ryan Bader in the night's main event.
